Her FUNDS | ORIGIN

Sophia DeGregorio, who still likes playing chess and following her former Her Move Next teammates break glass ceilings competing in chess tournaments, inspired Her Funds out of her love of math. As an assistant captain of the Stuyvesant Math Team, she often says, “I speak math.” In high school, Sophia began envisioning a career utilizing the universal language of math.

Following some initial research, Sophia realized that a career in finance would involve applying math in the workplace, but she still had many questions. What financial career opportunities were available? What requisite math skills were needed in finance? And were there supportive women mentors to help guide her through a financial career?

While Sophia found many helpful platforms and programs providing financial literacy instruction, she craved learning more. Sophia also felt it was important to share her understanding of financial careers with the Her Move Next community too. Her Funds’ mission is to be a useful resource helping girls navigate concepts of markets to money, and determine if pursuing a financial career is a good fit. We hope you agree.
