HMN SEASONS 1-2; Her League 2021 | Coach Vicki, is a senior at Bard High School Early College Queens. She started learning chess around the end of 4th grade after seeing her brother, Calvin, join the chess team. Following in her brother's footsteps, she enrolled in I.S.318, a middle school which integrated chess into its academic curriculum, enabling the students to invest time and energy in school to studying and improving their chess game. As a part of the competitive chess team, Vicki has participated in various tournaments including Girls Nationals and Grade Nationals. Shortly after graduating, she also received her first title as WFM after placing second in the 2017 North American chess championship.
Aside from being a chess player, Vicki is also a TD and chess coach, helping run different tournaments including ICN’s Quads and HerMoveNext team quads. Through these roles, she is happy to give young children tips and lessons they can use to improve their understanding of the game and have fun at the same time. Outside of chess, Vicki has many other hobbies which include doing arts and crafts. She also started learning ping pong through her friends at school. In her free time, she reads manga, draws, and hangs out with friends.
