Rose Morden is a soon to be thirteen year old who is attending the Salk School of Science. She has a cat and two older sisters, including Simone Morden. She has been playing chess since she was five and her second tournament was the All-Girls National Championships. Seeing all those girls together, defying gender stereotypes, made her motivated to make sure every girl got the chance to play chess.
Currently she is rated 1623 UCSF from playing over 200 tournaments. Most of her chess journey happened when she was in Elementary school which was P.S.33. Her chess coach there was Coach Angel and up till now he still teaches her.
Her biggest accomplishment in chess was in 2019 when she won the All Girls K-6 New York State Championship. In that tournament she won all six games against players rated both lower and higher. She was awarded a certificate granting her three free tournament passes under the corporation that hosted the tournament she won. She has also received other chess accomplishments, including placing third place and winning a norm in the 2019 North American Youth Chess Championship.
When it comes to Her Move Next, Rose has coached a few times for the tournaments but mostly played in them. Along with that she has written one article called The Evolution of Chess for Her News. Her other coaching experiences include coaching her cousins and the people in their Henderson School chess program during the summer of 2021. Her favorite hobbies besides chess are: Taekwondo, writing, and dancing.
