Indira Raparthi is a 12 year old who has been playing chess since kindergarten. In elementary school she joined PS11’s chess team. Her interest in chess first started when she was as young as two years old! Her older brother Ankit (Currently a US Expert), started playing chess when he was 6 and that was when she was born. Her early years are filled with memories of her brother playing chess in her living room. Her whole life she has been going to chess tournaments, but her first one that she participated in was when she was in kindergarten.
Indira is currently attending the All-Girls Spence school in NYC. Indira has been to various tournaments including the Pan- American championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the All-Girls National Championships in Chicago, the World Open in Philadelphia, and other Scholastic National tournaments. She has played in over 200 chess tournaments. Her current USCF rating is approximately 1500. She has previously coached kids in chess in her neighborhood.
Indira’s other hobbies include art, softball, soccer, writing, reading, piano, guitar, singing, acting, DNA and science related research, annoying her brother, and self-trained contortion.
